> P/PV's Tammi Fleming Selected As Emerging Leader in Nonprofit Development
Tammi Fleming, P/PV’s Director of Plain Talk Replication, has been selected by the Annie E. Casey Foundation as an emerging leader in effective nonprofit development. As a “Next Generation Leader,” Ms. Fleming will work with fellow innovators in her field to identify and promote successful youth-focused public policy and resources.

Amid tight spending constraints, the 2008 federal budget included a new $10.2 million grant for evidence-based, home visitation programs proven to significantly improve child health and development. This is likely to provide an important influx of resources to support Nurse Family Partnership programs around the country.



> P/PV's Joan Loch Co-Authors Article in the American Journal of Nursing
Loch, Deputy Director of NFP Education and Quality Improvement at P/PV, co-authored an article that appeared in the November issue of the Journal. The piece, titled The Nurse-Family Partnership, documents the program's "history, results, and costs, and the support systems that sustain nurses in this challenging but rewarding work."



> Recent Harvard Study Cites NFP's Strong Evidence of Effectiveness
A new report, A Science Based Framework for Early Childhood Development, by the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University cites the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) as “the home visiting program with the strongest evidence of success” and makes the case that policymakers should invest in programs like NFP—those that “offer the best course toward positive outcomes for children.”

Developed by the Disadvantaged Children & Youth Program of The Atlantic Philanthropies, the initiative's goal is to improve the quality of life and educational performance of middle-school-aged children and youth in communities with fewer resources.

> Replication of Nurse-Family Partnership
Found to produce substantial and enduring improvements in the health and well-being of low-income first-time mothers and their children, this program now operates in about half of all U.S. states.

> Replication of Plain Talk
The Plain Talk program seeks to increase parental involvement and adult/teen communication about sex. Based on promising results in five cities, P/PV is now leading a national replication effort.
